slightly garbled phone message
from my mother

Hey William Wolfe.

This is your mother.

Your dad's sitting next to me.
We are at home.
It is windy;
it is cold.

Oh. And the dog? I don't know where
oh he's here with us too
anyway
we were just wanted to know whether you've talked--
I'm sure that you have--
talked to your girlfriend since
the bad storms yesterday.

And we just wanted
if everything was okay,
and
that is about it.
So that is all.

Or at
at least it's almost all.

And there's a car turning into the driveway at the house behind us.

And
there is a rope in our tree, and it's blowing in the wind.

And
there is a ladder at the house behind us
up against the house going up to the roof
but I don't see Santa Claus or anybody on the roof.

And
there is a big puddle of water in the Fowlers' back yard.

And
a big puddle of water back at the pond.

And that's about it.

So, talk to you later, goodbye.
